The Next Generation in Racing Has Arrived!

The Ozone Yakuza GT
Ozone has worked closely with highly successful buggy racers including World Champions
and National Champions to perfect what has become the benchmark in race kite technology. The design process on a high aspect kite like the
Yakuza GT is very involved; a race kite needs to perform in a wide variety of conditions, upwind, downwind or any direction you choose and be able
to go as fast as possible whilst maintaining stability and low-wind pull. If you want to be the fastest or feel the need to have the most
powerful kite possible then the Yakuza GT is the kite for you.
World Champion and 5 time German Champion Björn Krautschick rocketed past the
competition with the Ozone Yakuza GT prototypes to once again secure the championship for 2008! The Yakuza GT gave him the right advantage
against all the others. In one race he started late from the last position, fought hard and took all he could out of his GT. Few
meters before the finish line he had overtaken everyone and even passed the person in lead to once again stand proudly on the winners 1st place
platform proudly showing the Ozone Yakuza GT. Björn reported that he was able to go much more upwind than anyone else and was also the
fastest on the speed course giving him the necessary advantage to win the race.
Robby (Ozone Designer) put a lot of research and effort
into the new GT design and the result once again sets an all new benchmark in the race kite world. Beside an increase on speed he worked hard
on more stability and general user friendliness. There is still the typical Yakuza rush and feel in the kite and there is still heaps of
extra power you can get through the brakes. Everything works very intuitive and riders new to the Yakuza GT won’t need much time to get used
to it.
Ozone has also been working harder than ever before on the smaller sizes that needed to perform but still be super stable in high
gusty winds. Therefore the smaller kites (under 4.5m) have an all new special profile and planform. Ozone discovered that the advantage
of having a slightly less performance kite is safer and easier to handle and is much more relevant than having a crazy kite the rider is scared to
use in nasty or unpredictable conditions.
The Yakuza GT is the kite of choice if you want to look into racing or just looking for the most
powerful and fastest kite on the market.
If you want to step up your performance and set new records in speed and time, the Yakuza GT is the
kite for you!
The bigger sizes (10m and larger) of the Yakuza GT's have also been used as the low wind power houses for loads of snowkite
expeditions through Greenland, Antarctic and Canada. Eric, Sarah and Curtis from the www.pittarak.com expedition were adding 12 and 14m
Yakuza GT's to their quiver when they were crossing Greenland from south to north in 2008. They staked up 2 sets of 30m Lines and were able
to snowkite even if they couldn’t feel a breeze on the ground which gave them a big advantage making distance records never before possible.
For heavy weight buggiers or snowkiters that travel with heavy equipment and sleds, Ozone has made a 17m version which will pull you like a tractor
in less than 5 knots winds. Imagine being able to buggy in winds that you can bearly feel!
We hope you will love the new Yakuza GT
and it brings you loads of success and fun as it did Ozone's designing them.
- THE OZONE Yakuza GT
- QUALITY :: Because it counts!
- Quality is a word that gets used a lot in the kite industry. At Ozone, they don't take
this word lightly; when they use it, they mean it. Ozone is proud of their design and manufacturing and we think it's second
to none. We're proud of their design and manufacturing and believe they set a precedent for the rest of the industry.
Quality begins with design : at Ozone, a quality design results in a kite that handles as well as possible, combined with the
highest level of performance and safety.
- MATERIALS :: A Product is only as good as its roots.
- Choosing materials : this is a simple issue, when Ozone chooses a material, they base their
decision solely upon the fact that the materials used are the best available for the job.
- MANUFACTURING ::
- Kite production : all Ozone kites are manufactured in their own facility. They have total
control over every aspect of the manufacturing process, and each kite is fully inflated and inspected to certified paragliding
standards before leaving their DHV-approved factory.
- TESTING ::
- Product testing : The Yakuza has undergone thousands of hours of development, from CAD
design through to riding in extremes, at -40 0 C in Norway to the baking heat and sand blasts of Chile.
- WHY ARE OZONE KITES SO DARN GOOD?
- HIGH TENACITY FABRIC ::
- After extensive research and development with NCV Porcher Marine laboratories, Ozone has released
Porcher 767 and has also developed their own material called Ozone40D. Both Nylon Rip-Stop fabrics offer an unbeatable blend
of UV resistance, stiffness and tear resistance.
- MYLAR EDGED ::
- Aerodynamics tells us that the leading and trailing edges are the two most critical lines in an
aerofoil section. Ozone kites are Mylar taped, giving a more rigid structure, a clean and efficient aerofoil, and absolutely
zero stretching. The Mylar tape effectively locks the sail shape, meaning your kite keeps its factory trim.
Just remember that only a 1mm error on a cell in a kite with 30 cells leads to an overall error of 3cm, this can make a marked
difference to a kites handling, performance and safety!
- DOUBLE STITCHED ::
- Ozone kites are double-needle stitched, which is stronger and more durable than single line stitching
in the event of the kite being dragged over rough ground. Even the thread used for stitching the lines and sail is UV-bonded,
further adding to the strength and life-span of Ozone kites. Every seam is checked to within 0.5 mm; a look at the colour-scheme
accuracy and the inside of the seams of any Ozone kite will highlight this fact.
- FLYING LINES ::
- Tested to 180/110 kg, Ozone's heat-treated Edelrid Dyneema SK75 lines ensure stretch resistance,
a high thermal tolerance and durability for all kites. Lines are cut, pre-stretched, sleeved and stitched to ensure 100%
accuracy. The lines are final load tested to 60% of their breaking strain to "lock" the line and as a final production check.
- BRIDAL LINES ::
- Ozone's aim when designing the bridle lines is to use the least amount of line possible, to
minimise parasitic drag through the air, resulting in a more performant kite. Kite design has advanced to the point where
the accuracy and diameter of the line lengths is vitally important. To achieve this accuracy, Ozone uses the highest quality
Dyneema lines which are stitch finished for extra strength and less drag.
The kook-proof colour-coded and labelled line
connection system makes set-up safer and completely stress-free for riders new to kiting.
- ATTACHMENT TABS ::
- All attachment tabs are sewn deep into the reinforcement area of the ribs, which means that the
load is spread over a larger area of material, thus reducing any stretching and ageing of the cloth.
The Ozone Yakuza GT package includes the most powerful and fastest Ozone kite ever made, a stackable rugged pack that holds all of your gear with room to spare, Manual, Safety Notice, *new* repair pack, Compression Strap, Cool Ozone Key Ring, and a Cool Ozone Sticker.
