Ozone Kites
Land - Sea - Air!
Snow
Snow kiting is the latest winter sport.   Fast growing and simple to learn, skiers and boarders across the world are discovering the fun of traction kiting.   Given a good breeze, a dump of snow and a power kite you can turn a cold winter's day into a blistering, adrenaline soaked experience.   Eye watering speeds of over 50 kph have been recorded as snow kiters blast themselves along, and the 'big air' jumps that boarders and skiers are pulling under the power and security of power kites are simply breath taking.   Using the natural power of the wind a snow kite and a pair of skis can also take you deep in to the untouched powder that only heli-skiers and ski tourers could reach before.   Even a flat field can be a playground with a kite and some snow!   Wind power is one of life's few free rides and already snow kiting enthusiasts have achieved incredible things.   From a ground breaking unsupported journey to the North Pole and back to huge kite powered adventures through Alaska, the world of winter sports is embracing this new fantastic new sport. The potential is simply limitless!

Land - Sea - Air!
Land
Land based kiting always leads to kite buggying, the most popular form of power kiting.   It is easy to learn, safe, fun, and the new kite/buggy technology is truly remarkable.   The buggy pilot sits in a small, light vehicle while flying a kite that pulls the pilot and buggy.   The seat is usually low to the ground and the wheels are no more than an arm's reach away.   The pilot steers with his/her feet using pegs attached to the front wheel of the buggy.   For power, the pilot flies a steer able kite of 10 ft2 (1 m2) to 110 ft2 (10 m2).   The kite pulls the pilot and buggy much like a sail powers a sailboat.   The buggy can go upwind, downwind or across the wind at speeds from 5 mph (8 kph) to 50 mph (80 kph) or higher.   Kite buggies are quite maneuverable and are easily controlled.   The pilot can steer a course between objects, accelerate or decelerate at will and easily stop the buggy.   The buggy can safely approach people and even turn circles around them.   Similarly, the kite is easily steered around trees, sand dunes and other kites.

Kite buggying requires only a large, open space and some wind.   How much space and how much wind depend on what gear the pilot has and what the pilot wants to do.   It is possible to buggy in as little as 2 mph (3.2 kph) of wind with a very large kite of 80 ft2 (7.2 m2) or as much as 30 mph (48 kph) of wind with a very small kite of about 10 ft2 (1 m2).   Typical line lengths for the kites vary from 50 ft (15 m) to 200 ft (61 m).

In finding a location, the buggy pilot often takes what is available.   Hard packed beaches, dry lake beds, grass and pavement are all viable options.   Some provide more room, some provide more friction.   With higher friction comes a need for more power which means bigger kites for a given wind velocity.   The most popular surfaces are beaches and dry lake beds as the provide some of the best and broadest rolling surfaces, but a mowed field can be quite fun and is a common choice.   Pavement is fast and provides the best grip, but it is also the most hazardous of surfaces.

Ozone Kites - Specs and tech data
Ozone Razor
The Razor is Ozone's first full-race kite.   A sleek race profile with a high performance arc creates the fastest kite we've ever built.   By integrating profile technologies learnt from both our kite and paraglider developments, we have built a very high-speed kite which produces low drag when tacking at slower speeds.   For the less technically minded, this simply means there is much less chance of being lifted out of your buggy at high speeds.   Closed cells in the tips maintain pressure within the kite at all times and the Razor delivers smooth power both across the window and through the turn.   This is a highly efficient and clean wing built for cruising at high speeds.   Just as Ozone's paraglider design has always been driven by the need to make our wings cutting edge yet user friendly, the Razor has also been built to be accessible to a very wide range of pilot.   The Razor delivers direct, smooth handling at very high speeds but with a level of exceptionally user-friendly stability that means all competent kiters will be able to enjoy it's turbo charged performance.   Under Razor power you needn't be a World Champion to buggy at blistering speeds!

FEATURES:
Diagonal cross bracing between the cell walls allow us to fully support the Razor's sail whilst keeping lines to an absolute minimum.   Less lines means less drag, and better performance all round

Brake tabs attached 3 cm in from trailing edge allow the sail to fully open up for maximum speed.   Braking the sail in from the trailing edge also lets the
Razor's power be switched on and off in a highly controlled manner.

Dump ports (butt-hole) in the trailing edge of the wing tips make it simple to evacuate unwanted sand.

A Velcro tab on the inside of the center ensures that the (bridles) lines are easily kept tangle free when packing away the
Razor.

No external stitching to catch, snag and wear out.

Ozone's usual bomb proof construction.

Ozone Devils are the ultimate all-round traction kite.   Constructed using the latest technological innovations from the world of paraglider design the "Little Devil" series brings a new standard of kite design characterized by easy beautiful handling, unbelievable resistance to luffing and fantastic performance that will put even the competition kites to shame.

The design team has worked long and hard to find what we consider to be the perfect ingredients to make a kite that stands out from all the others.   Using our experience from our years of paraglider design, we selected the perfect profile and plan form to give us performance and stability while retaining handling that is perfect.   The profile is thicker than conventional kites which give us an advantage in both power and speed, it also provides amazing stability in gusty winds or in the hands of the inexperienced.   The
Devils keep their power and speed through the turn, which makes power turns easy.

Once flown, you will immediately realise the huge gain in improved performance, stability and beautiful handling a thicker correctly selected profile gives.   Try and tie the Devils into a knot and thanks to the design they will almost always re-fly.   What this means to you is more fun and more flying time.

The
Little Devil is perfect for all traction fun.   Buggy, snow kiting, mountain boards, longboards, blades, grannies wheelchair and if you’re an expert kite flyer even Kitesurfing- just don’t drop it in the drink.

Two, three or four line mode?   The
Devil's come ready to fly in four-line mode but can be easily changed to three or two-line mode depending on the kite flyers ability.   The two-line mode is recommended for beginners or children new to kite flying.   The three-line mode turns the Little Devil into the perfect snow-kite for flyers that prefer a kite-surf style bar with a safety de-power system.   The four-line mode is for kite flyers that demand complete control.

Tough construction:

Little Devil's
What size? The size of kite you fly obviously depends on your kite flying ability level and the strength of wind.   Once you're a competent kite flyer you'll be able to control more power.   Always use caution - wishing you could go up a size in kite is better than the other way around!!!

Team Riders
For these riders, kiting is a way of life, a passion that has been with them since the first time they learnt to harness the power of wind.   This same driving passion for adventure is Ozone's fuel too.   As a group of friends dedicated to designing kites and paragliders for your excitement and adventure, we are proud to be associated with all our riders.   They are each forging new paths, finding new challenges, and excelling in their fields.   Ozone pilots and riders help us present our sports to the public in interesting, alternative and sometimes mind-blowing ways.   Their valuable grass roots feedback helps Ozone create the products that you get to play with today.
Jeramie Lamblin
Jeremie Lamblin Jeremie Lamblin (FR) - Snow Kiting-Kitesurfing
Jeremie is one of the world's most accomplished snow kiters.   In 1997 he formed the Semnoz Kitesurfing Association with his friends and shortly after the now famous Winter Tour started.   This highly popular snow kiting competition is now in its 4th year with Jeremie defending the bronze medal he won at last year's event.   An industrial designer, graphic artist and father, Jeremie will be helping Ozone develop future designs.   His main concerns are to develop safety as the sport grows.
Graham Steele
Graham Steele Graham Steele - Para kart racing
Graham has always been into racing.   He started with motorbikes, then paragliders and is the king at tweaking and refining his equipment.   He only started para-karting (buggy) last year and is already doing well in the UK events.   He won the first event of the 2002 season, the Icicle Cup held in Wales, using a 4.5m Razor.   Graham has been involved with the Razors trimming, and is confident that he has the best race kite currently available to give him the edge this race season.
Jerome Wilm
Jerome Wilm- Snowkiting-Kitesurfing
A pro snowboarder and journalist Jerome has amazing energy and passion for his sports and photography.   Jerome and Marisha, his base jumping girlfriend, love taking kites to extreme regions and conditions, and travelling to remote areas that are way off the normal tourist routes.

Design Team
Ozone's designers have been involved in top-level paraglider design for over twelve years and have designed wings that have produced World Champions as well as becoming champions themselves.
Dave Pilkington
Dave Pilkington Dave Pilkington
Dave Pilkington is a doctor of aerodynamics and is in charge of wing and profile analysis.   This background gives him the expertise when it comes to choosing the perfect profile for the specific kite.   Dr Dave is also the production manager in our factory, which means that he can keep a close eye on the quality of all Ozone products.   He is a perfectionist and when not working he is normally fiddling with kites or paragliders trying to make every detail perfect.
Jeramie Lamblin
Rob Whittall Rob Whittall
Rob Whittall is product designer and has bought his knowledge from 12 years of paraglider design and testing over into ram air kite design.   Rob's addiction to flying has bought him two World Championship titles during his competitive paragliding / hanggliding career and many close calls along the way.   Rob is mad (certifiably) for exiting sports and when he is not in the air he is probably, kayaking, mountain biking, snowboarding or ragging his motorbike.
Matt Taggart
Matt Taggart Matt Taggart
Matt Taggart is concept leader and looks after all product testing.   He is at home in the water as he is in the air, his background is from sailing, windsurfing and paragliding.   Matt is Mister Go-for-it and that is why he is the ideal product tester, from the moment he picks up the product he gives it 100%.   He shares Rob's addiction for being dangerous and between the two of them there is normally some form of mayhem to witness.
Mike Cavanagh
Mike Cavanagh Mike Cavanagh
Mike Cavanagh aka Super Mike, why?   Because he is the man that somehow manages to keep all the rest of us under control while looking after the accounts as well.   Mike is in reality the manager of the bad bunch which means he spends most of his days walking round the office with a whip and a club making sure we are not slacking.   Mike is also mountain bike mad and if it's not good for flying or kiting then he will be punishing himself riding up some impossibly steep long hill, crazy!
