The Yakuza has been developed over the past 3 years with what has to be one of the most diverse and technically
minded teams within the kite industry. Ozone's team of committed buggy riders comprise of the best in the world including
World Champion Bjorn Krautsnick DE, Michel Dekker NL, Graham Steele UK and Dominik Zimmerman DE. Ozone's design team worked closely
with this dedicated group of buggy racers to improve on the previous Ozone race kite, the Razor.
The Yakuza has already
proven itself on the race circuit with Graham Steele, UK taking the British Championships in 2005, Michel
Dekker the Dutch Champion in 2005 and Ozone's German team of Dominik and Bjorn currently in 1 st and 2 nd place in the hotly
contested 2005 German championships.
The design process on a high aspect kite like the Yakuza is
a very involved process, a race kite must be able to work in an amazing variety of conditions, upwind or downwind and be able to go
as fast as possible yet still have low-end grunt. Ozone's committed design team refused to stop prototyping until they had
found the perfect design balance to make the Yakuza a truly extraordinary design.
The Yakuza is the result of 3 years of
constant design, the results speak for themselves. If you want to be the fastest in your buggy or feel the need to have the
most powerful kite possible in your quiver then the Yakuza is the kite for you!
- THE OZONE Yakuza
- QUALITY :: Because it counts!
- Quality is a word that gets used a lot in the kite industry. At Ozone, they don't take
this word lightly; when they use it, they mean it. Ozone is proud of their design and manufacturing and we think it's second
to none. We're proud of their design and manufacturing and believe they set a precedent for the rest of the industry.
Quality begins with design : at Ozone, a quality design results in a kite that handles as well as possible, combined with the
highest level of performance and safety.
- MATERIALS :: A Product is only as good as its roots.
- Choosing materials : this is a simple issue, when Ozone chooses a material, they base their
decision solely upon the fact that the materials used are the best available for the job.
- MANUFACTURING ::
- Kite production : all Ozone kites are manufactured in their own facility. They have total
control over every aspect of the manufacturing process, and each kite is fully inflated and inspected to certified paragliding
standards before leaving their DHV-approved factory.
- TESTING ::
- Product testing : The Yakuza has undergone thousands of hours of development, from CAD
design through to riding in extremes, at -40 0 C in Norway to the baking heat and sand blasts of Chile.
- WHY ARE OZONE KITES SO DARN GOOD?
- HIGH TENACITY FABRIC ::
- After extensive research and development with NCV Porcher Marine laboratories, Ozone has released
Porcher 767 and has also developed their own material called Ozone40D. Both Nylon Rip-Stop fabrics offer an unbeatable blend
of UV resistance, stiffness and tear resistance.
- MYLAR EDGED ::
- Aerodynamics tells us that the leading and trailing edges are the two most critical lines in an
aerofoil section. Ozone kites are Mylar taped, giving a more rigid structure, a clean and efficient aerofoil, and absolutely
zero stretching. The Mylar tape effectively locks the sail shape, meaning your kite keeps its factory trim.
Just remember that only a 1mm error on a cell in a kite with 30 cells leads to an overall error of 3cm, this can make a marked
difference to a kites handling, performance and safety!
- DOUBLE STITCHED ::
- Ozone kites are double-needle stitched, which is stronger and more durable than single line stitching
in the event of the kite being dragged over rough ground. Even the thread used for stitching the lines and sail is UV-bonded,
further adding to the strength and life-span of Ozone kites. Every seam is checked to within 0.5 mm; a look at the colour-scheme
accuracy and the inside of the seams of any Ozone kite will highlight this fact.
- FLYING LINES ::
- Tested to 180/110 kg, Ozone's heat-treated Edelrid Dyneema SK75 lines ensure stretch resistance,
a high thermal tolerance and durability for all kites. Lines are cut, pre-stretched, sleeved and stitched to ensure 100%
accuracy. The lines are final load tested to 60% of their breaking strain to "lock" the line and as a final production check.
- BRIDAL LINES ::
- Ozone's aim when designing the bridle lines is to use the least amount of line possible, to
minimise parasitic drag through the air, resulting in a more performant kite. Kite design has advanced to the point where
the accuracy and diameter of the line lengths is vitally important. To achieve this accuracy, Ozone uses the highest quality
Dyneema lines which are stitch finished for extra strength and less drag.
The kook-proof colour-coded and labelled line
connection system makes set-up safer and completely stress-free for riders new to kiting.
- ATTACHMENT TABS ::
- All attachment tabs are sewn deep into the reinforcement area of the ribs, which means that the
load is spread over a larger area of material, thus reducing any stretching and ageing of the cloth.
The Ozone Yakuza package includes the most powerful and fastest Ozone kite ever made, a stackable rugged pack that holds all of your gear with room to spare, Manual and Safety Notice, Compression Strap, Cool Ozone Key Ring, and a Cool Ozone Sticker.
Options ::
The Ozone Yakuza is available in 3 color schemes: Red/Black, Red/Blue, Yellow/Red.
